![]() Last spring, Catonsville Rails To Trails (CRTT) volunteer, Kit Valentine began to clear the Mellor Avenue portion of the Catonsville Short Line Trail that parallels Mellor Ave. Kit removed 40 years of fallen limbs, vines and debris so that the trail would be visible from the road. By himself, Kit cleared approximately 40% of this portion of trail. Unfortunately, Kit has been ill and we are hopeful he’ll recover soon but he is unable to complete this project at this time. Let’s pitch in and get the job done for Kit. For more information on Kit, see this great article in Catonsville Times . Join us on April 5, 2014 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. as volunteers will ban together to pull vines/ivy off trees, stack fallen limbs, clear the trail and do a job Kit would be proud of. Wear long sleeve shirts, long pants and boots. Bring gloves, loppers, chainsaws, handsaws and clippers. If you don’t have these items, don’t worry, CRTT can provide some of the tools and we have lots of gloves. Meet at Mellor Ave. and Pullen Ave - across from the Catonsville Armory, 130 Mellor Ave., 21228. Raindate is Sunday, April 6, 2014 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. For more information, contact Maureen Sweeney Smith at 443-326-5474 or by e-mail at sweeneysmith@comcast.net. Groups are welcomed!
